About Richard
Richard has provided accounting, financial planning, management consulting, and tax planning for businesses (including publicly traded companies), individuals (including Fortune 500 CEOs) and not-for-profit organizations.
Richard‘s experience includes advising clients at BPM LLP (largest CPA firm headquartered in San Francisco) and Lautze & Lautze CPAs & Financial Advisers (Top 25 Bay Area CPA firm). Also, Richard’s experience includes managing the taxes worldwide for Morrison & Foerster LLP (an international company with over $1 billion revenue).
Richard has been quoted on a variety of tax and financial planning topics in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, Investment News, Oakland Tribune and even the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (on tax treatment of WWE pro wrestlers as independent contractors).
Richard has served on the boards of Ascend: Pan Asian Business Leaders and the Northern California Planned Giving Council. He also serves on the audit and professional advisory committees of the charitable community foundation, Asian Pacific Fund. In 2008, he served on the American Institute of CPA Tax-Exempt Technical Resource Panel and its committee that reviewed every page of the revised Form 990 instructions (over 500 pages). Richard is also a Certified Financial planner (CFP®) practitioner. Richard’s education includes a Master of Science in Taxation and a MBA in Finance. Richard maintains an active CPA license that requires 80 hours of continuing education every 2 years and maintains an active CFP designation that requires 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
When not working, besides enjoying time with his son (for fun family events click here), Richard enjoys watching the latest Hollywood blockbusters or international action films. Richard incredibly has read over 25,000 comic books. One of his favorite series is Love & Capes a love story about a superhero whose secret identity is a tax accountant.
